When I think back to 16 year old me, I see a young and clueless girl who cares way too much about what other people think of her. In hindsight, there is so much I would say to myself at this time in life, especially considering how different things are for me now. So basically, here are a few brief words to little me.
First of all, I know how much you stress over homework and exams. I'm sorry to say that this still hasn't changed, although you should know that you did make it to a pretty good uni! You're A levels weren't exactly straight A's, but they are good enough and life is good so you can't complain. Also, as you are doing languages at a degree level, people will be well impressed simply by the fact that you can tell them your name in another language (just humor them).
Secondly, there are things in life that I know you are thinking are a life or death situation, and one obvious example of this is boys. You are most likely currently experiencing your first heartbreak which, btw, you get over a lot quicker than you thought you would. Boyfriends are an extra bonus in your life, at that age especially it is important to make you sure you have your own life in order before bringing others so closely into it.
The obvious thing to say net would be that by the time you are 19, you will have realised who is truly important to you and who your true friends are. You really do have some amazing people in your life so hold on to them. Realise that a few close friends is much more important than being surrounded by people you call friends, but won't be there when you really need someone.
Finally, don't wish your life away. You may be bored and wanting to be independent, but before you know it you will be paying bills and desperately trying to stay out of your overdraft. Just know that life isn't perfect, and theres still things that you need to learn and work on as a 19 year old. However, you have SO much to be grateful and happy for.
(P.S, Soon you will get the urge to buy a hair dye kit and experiment. You will learn that you are allergic the hard way, and from then on you will remember it as the ugliest you have ever felt and looked. Just a heads up.)
